Stephen Kaltenbach Survey Exhibition, INDEX OF POSSIBILITIES

Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, Poland

March 24 – June 4, 2017

Opening Reception - Friday, March 24 at 6pm

The upcoming exhibition, INDEX OF POSSIBILITIES, at the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź will be the first solo show of Kaltenbach’s art in Poland.  It will present his classic conceptual works from the second half of the 1960s, which were symbolic operations intended to distort institutional infrastructure of art. His Time Capsules (initiated in 1967), capsules with artist’s instructions, were expected to operate independently of institutional and commercial market. Other works of the artist often anonymously available in public space contradicted the commercial nature of an artwork and highlighted active involvement of art with the reality of its environment. Besides the works from the 1960s, the exhibition will also present the latest works of the artist from the series, Bad Ideas.

Muzeum Sztuki,  Więckowskiego 36 St., 90-734 Łódź Poland
