TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Lecturer, University of California, Santa Cruz
Memory, transitional moments, boundaries, borders, edges, identity and difference are recurring themes in my work.
Often my process begins with my response to a specific poem. This response is emotional in nature and is then melded with a compositional structure derived from an autobiographical reference. In a sense, the structure is a foil for an improvisational and intuited response to a poem. Over the years, this process has allowed me to use a range of source materials to develop varying imagery exploring the themes of memories, transitional moments, boundaries, borders, edges, identity and difference.
